Providing a Full Spectrum of Cardiac Care

Even though a healthy heart is vital to your well-being, diseases and disorders of the heart are all too common. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States, responsible for about a quarter of all deaths. And while heart disease has traditionally been thought of as primarily affecting men, that’s simply not the case. Women are at risk as well. In fact, more women than men have died of cardiovascular disease every year since 1984.

For all of these reasons and more, effective diagnosis, management and treatment of heart disease is vitally important. The Heart and Vascular Program provides care for a full spectrum of diseases and disorders of the heart, including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, high blood pressure, peripheral vascular disease, and many more.

Services

We provide a full spectrum of cardiac care, including a wide range of advanced treatment and services.

Cardiac Catheterization

We use cardiac catheterization procedures to both diagnose and treat some forms of heart disease, such as stenosis. Cardiac catheterization involves inserting a thin flexible tube called a catheter into a vein or artery in the groin or arm and then moving it up into the heart using live X-rays to guide it.

Cardiothoracic Surgery

Cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons operate on the heart, lungs and other organs in the chest. Cardiac, thoracic and endovascular surgeons perform a range of innovative surgical procedures to diagnose, manage and treat vascular and heart diseases.

Cardiothoracic surgeons provide beating heart bypass surgery, valve repair and replacement, and aortic aneurysms and dissections repair.

Open Vascular Surgery

Vascular disorders can impair or block blood flow through arteries and veins, or cause them to enlarge (become aneurysmal). It can affect any or many parts of the body resulting in stroke, kidney failure, limb ischemia or even death. We have the advanced equipment that thoracic surgeons need to focus on early detection, treatment and prevention. This helps tackle problems in the circulation of blood.

Thoracic surgeons provide ascending and thoracic aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, peripheral bypass grafts and open embolectomy and/or thrombolysis.
