Doctors Hospital of Laredo Awarded Primary Heart Attack Center Certification from The Joint Commission

Doctors Hospital of Laredo (DHL) has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® and the American Heart Association’s®  Heart-Check mark for Primary Heart Attack Center (PHAC) Certification.

During the visit, a team of Joint Commission reviewers evaluated compliance with related certification standards. This included the evaluation of the care of the patient presenting to the Emergency Department with a STEMI, a life-threatening emergency in which the patient requires immediate intervention in the cardiac catheterization lab, with a team of seasoned experts, trained with the latest techniques and technology.

They were evaluated on the timely and effective care of patients in the Emergency Department, catheterization lab, ICU and medical surgical floors, using the latest guidelines provided by the American College of Cardiology, Emergency Cardiovascular Care and the American Heart Association. Joint Commission standards are developed in consultation with healthcare experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. The reviewers also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
